Floyd Henry Divens, age 82, passed away on April 28, 2020 at home surrounded by his loving family. Floyd was born on November 25, 1937 to the late Ezra and Agnes Divens.
He graduated from Campbell High School and worked as a brakeman on the railroad before working as a carpenter for Corning, Inc from 1960 to 1994.
Floyd married his beautiful bride, Julia Louise Randall on August 27, 1960. Floyd and Julia’s love and devotion to each other was an example for all.
Floyd was always on the go tinkering around the house and in his garage. He enjoyed many years at the family cottage with family and friends. Floyd also enjoyed traveling around the country in their RV with close friends. Floyd thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family. He and Julia attended many sporting events, band concerts, and parades over the years that his children and grandchildren participated in near and far. Floyd was the master of finding creative ways to do and fix things. His ways are affectionately referred to by his grandchildren as a verb - “Poppa fix it.” He was happy to come to the rescue whenever any family member or friend needed anything – whether it was hands on help or just advice. Floyd loved ‘shooting the breeze’ and telling jokes and could make anyone smile and laugh with his contagious smile and laughter.
Floyd is survived by his loving, beautiful wife of nearly 60 years, Julia Randall Divens; daughters Kimberly Divens, Terri Divens-Bruffey; grandchildren – Miranda (Dylan) Miller, Lydia Bruffey, Reeder Bruffey, Joshua Naylor and great-granddaughter Judith Miller; sister Eva (Robert) Graham; sister-in-law Kay Horton (Pete); brother-in-law Richard (Debra) Randall, as well as several nieces and nephews. Floyd is also survived by his beloved, little dog Casey. Floyd joins his pre-deceased daughters Brenda Divens Naylor and Michelle Divens, brother and sister-in-law Loren and Phyllis Divens, sister and brother-in-law Dora and Robert Polmanteer, as well other family and friends who have gone on before him to be with their Lord in Heaven.
Due to the current national health crisis, memorial services will be held and announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to a charity of your choice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Phillips Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
