Michael A. Camann, age 73 of Campbell, NY passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born on February 23, 1947 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Eugene and Janice (Wienke) Camann. Michael was a graduate of Niagara Wheatfield High School, class of 1965, later receiving his Master's Degree from Cornell University in 1983. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1973. He married Deborah Baird on July 22, 1989 in Hammondsport, NY. He had a long career as a landscape architect for various architectural and engineering firms around the country working for 43 years before his retirement. He took great pride in the many projects throughout his career, including Martha's Vineyard, Aurene, Cornell Plantations and many athletic fields for local schools.

After retirement, Michael began driving school bus for a number of years - developing a great love for the children. When Michael wasn't working, he loved being outside. He could either be found tending to his flowers and trees in his gardens or refurbishing old vehicles. He loved German made cars, specifically BMW's and Porsches. He was able to purchase and enjoy a BMW motorcycle, and was fortunate enough to be able to provide a vehicle to each of his beloved grandchildren.

Michael is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Camann; children: Jason Camann of Elmira, NY, Douglas (Ellen) Camann of Pittsburgh, PA; daughters, Jennifer (Tim) Wilson of Savona, NY and Kate (Eric) Fee of Campbell, NY; grandchildren: Damien Camann, Logan (Sarah) Wilson, Jordan (David Ratchford) Wilson, Macklen Fee, Sydney Elle Fee; one great grandson, Wyatt; sisters: Ruth (Earl) Voelker of Bergholz, NY, Lois (Rick) Wiseman of Bergholz, NY, Mary (Les) Fuerch of Bergholz, NY, Debbie (Robin) Fieck of Fergus Ontario Canada; brothers: David (Linda) Camann of San Antonio, TX, Tim (Chris) Camann of Unadilla, NY; sister-in-law, Liz Camann of Odenton, MD; In-laws: Sharon (Mike) Blencowe of Campbell, NY, Rob Warn of Campbell, NY, Pam (David) Baker of Campbell, NY, Gary (Shelley) Putman of Campbell, NY; and many many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Hello my dear cousins--David, Ruth, Lois, Mary, Tim and Deb. My heart goes out to each of you as you've had to say goodbye to another brother. I was very saddened to hear of Mike's passing and I thank Deb for letting me know. (Uncle Ju had cancer of the liver and pancreas.) It's a great picture of Mike and I enjoyed reading about lots of things I didn't know about him. We've all been spread out for many years, so I'm grateful for the reunions that we were able to attend. Life is short as we are all finding out, so our faith in our Lord and Savior becomes more and more important. We look forward to seeing all our loved ones that have gone before us. With love and prayers for you all, and also Mike's wife and family. Nancy (and George) Reid

What a tragedy, But as Mike's brother- in law I can tell you I have never seen the courage and strength this wonderful man displayed. He knew the end result, he knew where he was going, and he looked forward to it. Mike accomplished many things...such a bright intelligent man! Wife Deb stayed by his side through all of it, taking "till death do we part" to a whole new level. His Children were there to the end and did everything possible to comfort him and help Deb. This is a tribute to Mike Camann, and Christ. Tremendous loss to all of us, tremendous gain for Mike. Thank You Jesus for the time we had with Mike. He's on the winning team. We will see him again...May God bless Mike and may his legacy live on.

So very sorry for your loss. Mike was a great guy, my first boss when I came to work at HUNT Engineers Architects Surveyors in 1996. I learned a bunch from Mike and appreciate the time he spent mentoring me early in my career. I always remembered his love for European cars, his BMW 2002 and his SAAB cars. He was fun to work for and many of the area school districts and communities benefitted from his designs.
